FAQs

General

The structure/color of the surface of my shaver handpiece has changed. Does this have negative effects?

The surface of the EBERLE shaver handpieces made of aluminum is provided with a protective coating. Depending on the processing method used, this coating may fade over time. The change in the surface does not constitute a defect and is irrelevant to the function of the handpieces.

Please also refer to the specifications for processing the handpieces in the instructions for use / processing manual under the section “Processing”.

Application

How many times may I use the Eberle shaver blade?

The number of processing cycles for shaver blades intended for multiple use has been validated for 10 cycles. This corresponds to the average service life of the shaver blades.

Please also refer to the specifications for use and inspection of the shaver blades in the instructions for use / processing manual.

Preparation

Can Eberle products be reprocessed?

A large number of our products can be reprocessed. You can find details in the instructions for use / processing manual as well as on the product label and on the product itself. Products intended for single use are marked by us with a crossed-out “2” (symbol for single use).

May I clean the Eberle product in a commercially available washer-disinfector (WD)?

An initial indication of whether the product can be subjected to machine cleaning can be found in the instructions for use / processing manual under the section “Processing”.

Here, a tested, validated procedure for reprocessing your medical device is recommended. Due to the variety of possible cleaning agents, cleaning devices and parameters, it is not possible for us as the manufacturer of the products to verify all combinations, so as the operator of the cleaning device you must validate the processing method yourself.

Who can carry out validated processing for me?

The processing of the Eberle shaver blades can be carried out by an external service provider. In doing so, the specifications of the operating and processing instructions must be strictly observed.

Why must I oil certain types of Eberle shaver blades?

The Eberle shaver blades are made of stainless steel. By oiling the Eberle shaver blades, the contact friction of the individual shaver blade components is reduced.

Milling shaver blades must not be oiled.

Can I resharpen the shaver blades?

The Eberle shaver blades consist of a precisely matched inner and outer cutter and cannot be resharpened. Any possible resharpening of the cutting geometry can lead to the defined tolerance ranges not being reached, so that a clean and safe cut is no longer possible.

By resharpening, the product is altered and no longer corresponds to the specification.

How do I correctly inspect and assess damage to my Eberle shaver blades?

Basic information on the handling of the Eberle shaver blades is provided in the instructions for use / processing instructions enclosed with each shaver blade.

Further support is available in the checklist with inspection recommendations for Eberle shaver blades for multiple use. You can obtain this from our field service employees, in the download area, or contact us directly.
